There is so much serenity in this poem. The inevitability of the approaching end, and yet such sweet acceptance! Rebecca has really nailed it. Let's hear it from the poet herself.

"Living in rural Mississippi where there is little light pollution, I am able to see the night sky with crystal clarity. I wrote this as I entered a time in my own life when I realized that the road behind me stretched further than the road ahead. The poem asks a question about the ephemeral and fleeting nature of life, yet shows us the incredibly beauty all of us are reluctant to leave behind.

For me, writing this was both bitter and sweet—an acknowledgement of what it means to be…

Awesome… we all ask this to ourselves at some point of time.

This is beautiful. Lots of ma and yugen. I love the question in the first 2 lines. Is it a question everyone asks themselves? It makes me stop and ponder.
