I had a similar one written initially and yet it remains with me, very vaguely written when we were constructing our house.

Western Ghats

the muskiness of teak

in our interiors

I liked the depth of John's poem!

The poet John Tiong Chunghoo talks about this poem:

The haiku was written in the early years of my interest in haiku, and probably published in the Heron's Nest in 2004. I used to follow my mom to the market in hometown Sibu, Sarawak and I could vividly remember the valley in the chopping log, a huge piece of timber cutting, chopping and doing all sorts of work to make sure the customers get his proper order be it a piece of tongue, a leg, head or liver of a pig. The valley holds a valuable piece of childhood memory spent with mom at the market place.
