It's good to see this monoku is inspiring some of you. Please keep them coming.
Meanwhile, here is what the poet, Cherie Hunter Day says:
I wrote “last time” on June 7, 2017. The poem is based on the deaths of two significant people in my life—one suddenly from a heart attack and the other slowly from terminal cancer. Dusk is a powerful time of day, the shutting down of activity associated with the light. Dusk makes it easy to conjure up feelings of loss. The poem features synesthesia—two senses (auditory and visual) co-mingled. I wasn’t present at either of their passings, so I didn’t experience closure. This haiku addresses that ongoing encounter.

Beautiful!
as we are discussing 'mono no aware' in haikaiTALKS, does this line point to that aesthetic. I feel so,
'last time I heard you become dusk'
so beautiful!!
Thank you.
